SEPTEMBER 11TH, MEMORIAL, GROSVENOR SQUARE, LONDON
The September 11th Memorial is a monument, designed as a garden pavilion in the grounds of Grosvenor Square, dedicated to the memory of the British victims of the events of September 11th 2001. Rhys Brookes was appointed as a consultant to developed the design from the Architect's initial outline proposals and to provide detailed construction drawings and co-ordinate the setting out of the building which is based on a Doric Temple set within an 8 centred ellipse. The structure is constructed entirely of green oak with large oak columns turned from single pieces of timber each weighing 1/4 tonne.
